Jumping Jax is a new photography studio that’s opened up not too far from me in Newbiggin and myself and a host of other bloggers went to the grand opening.
The studios is the brainchild of Sharna, a graphic designer and mother to two-year old Alden Jax, of whom the studio is named after. Sharna has always had a love for design, photography, arts and crafts. This love, coupled with the birth of her son gave her fresh, new ideas; to design and create clothing items for for children as well as a space where members of the public could have their special moments recorded, be that a pregnancy, baby, or just a family shoot.
The studio is based on Front Street in Newbiggin which is both accessible by car and bus. There are parking spaces right at the front and if you’re unable to not get one, there are plenty on the streets nearby. It’s a fairly quiet town so you should have no trouble finding a space.
Inside the studio
Sharna mentioned that she aimed for a spacious layout after having had terrible experiences whilst out and about in stores with her son in his stroller. Not everywhere was stroller friendly so she decided that if parents were coming entering the studio with their strollers then navigation around it should be done with ease as taking photographs of children can already be arduous.
The studio walls are painted white, a nice choice to help calm those nerves and also to act as a reflector of light.
Right behind the till is a mural that Alden, her two-year-old son helped to design. Alden, in fact, helped to design most of the characters you may see around the studio.
Types of photography
Jumping Jax specialises in the following:
- Cake Smashes/Birthday shoots
- School photos
- Mini- sessions
The studio provides a changing area for families and children as well as fresh tea and coffee. there is a sitting area for those not taking part in the shoot as well as a small play area to distract little ones.
Clothing toys and accessories
I also had the opportunity to browse and perhaps purchase and array of clothing and accessories with designed by her and in collaboration with other business.
I made a few purchases for Alexandra and cannot wait to see her in it once the sun decides to come out and play ball.
Sharna also professionally designs and sews bags for both mummy and child. I was gifted ‘mama’ bag and it comes in a gorgeous cream and black design.
Overall, I had a great time visiting the studios and hope to be back. Jumping Jax Studios is a lovely business venture that I hope will flourish and become a big part of the community.
