The Georgian Hotel is a place where I have stayed many times, the last time being December 2018. I have stayed in other hotels and even rented flats for the duration of my stay but this quirky boutique hotel keeps calling me and like a woman unable to shake off her bad boy, I keep going back for more.
The Georgian House Hotel is situated on St. George’s Drive, a short walk from Both Pimlico Station and Victoria Station.
This hotel and its 1851 Georgian – era decor feels is also nestled in between the Airways Hotel and the Albanian Embassy. Handy if you’re sorting out any travel issues.
It is also close to a number of restaurants, bars, pubs and cafés such as the Kazan Restaurant, Nando’s and Cafe Nero to name a few. The fact that this is all within walking distance means that if you’re feeling a bit peckish, it won’t be long until you’re fed.
Just want a cheap and cheerful sandwich? There’s a Sainsbury’s and a Tesco again within walking distance.
Inside the hotel
The hotel has had a lick of paint since I last visited and has gone for darker, winter tones which is all well and good for the cold months but what about when summer comes? Will they change the decor again? If so, kudos to them for keeping their customers on their toes.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love the colour scheme going on right now but it makes the hotel feel rather enclosed rather than open and airy which is what the previous decor did.
Our room was located in another part of the hotel that is based on Cambridge street.
We normally stay at the main site but it was December and a few days before Christmas so no surprises that the main base was fully booked.
We had to go up three floors to get to our room and with no lift and suitcases, you’re bound to want to lie on bed by the time you get to your hotel room. The hotel itself is child-friendly and the staff are more than willing to help you get to your rooms.
The room itself was clean, airy and nicely decorated. Some small parts of the room could have done with a touch-up but I think that that added to its charm as opposed to taking away from it.
- The Handy phone
This phone is FREE. Yep you read right. It’s free. It doesn’t need a SIM card or memory card and you can make free internet calls Via VOIP -think Whatssap and Viber calls.
It runs on Android and comes pre-installed with apps but you can download your own ones. I downloaded Instagram and managed to log in fine. I browsed the internet and even tested its camera.
The Handy phone is not as fast as the one you have but if you’re in a foreign country and want to avoid roaming charges.
- Coffee machine
The room came equipped with a Krups Nespresso coffee machine and a selection of coffee pods. Bear in mind though that such coffee machines only make short, strong coffees with no milk but you do have the option of having tea instead and you have a wide selection of tea to choose from too.
- Bathroom essentials
You do get the usual bathrobes and bath slippers as well as shower caps but you also get shower a bottle of shower get, shampoo and conditioner from The White Company to take advantage of.
- Sleep accessories
For those that find it difficult to sleep there are also sleep masks and ear buds.
Breakfast is served at the main site on St Georges Drive and although i haven’t got an image for you, you can see what the room is like and their breakfasts here. I didn’t have breakfast myself this time around but when I’m there I always choose a selection of freshly baked pastries and Eggs Benedict. Highchairs are available for those with children as well as child portions.
Overall, my stay at the Georgian House was very pleasant but then again it always has been which is why I always end up going back. Let me know your thoughts if you ever stay there!
